SOUTH WEST MYGOLF JUNIOR LEAGUE

Throughout the year, clubs from the South West put together teams of junior golfers who compete against each other in a fantastic competition called 'Junior League'.
Teams are made up of 6 players, paired up, who compete against another team in Two Person Ambrose Matchplay over 9 holes at different South West Host Clubs.

We run a competition each Semester of the year with 5 rounds and a final in each competition.

In conjunction with the Junior League, we also run a 9er's and 18's competition for those more advanced juniors.
The 9er's is the perfect start for kids looking to obtain their handicap. They play the full length course, play an individual stableford event and their best 4 rounds of the 6 count towards the end of semester trophy.
The 18's is the perfect event for our more advanced, regular playing golfers who already have well established handicaps. They also play the full length course, play an individual stableford event and their best 4 rounds of the 6 count towards the end of semester trophy.

We have on average 60 kids playing in this competition each semester.
As the event grows we will look to devision into a North and South Devision.

Next to our Teams and Managers; Jemma Price of the Busso Bandits, Troy Murphy of the Capel Kangas, Shani Waugh of the Bunno Boys & Birdies and Sue Reynolds of the DC Lakers.
Next to the parents and players for your continued support, early starts and long drives around the South West to make these events possible!

⛳ Junior League Results â›³
The two Capel Kangas teams meet one another in the final match to determine who finished 1st and 2nd for Semester Two. It was a very well fought match between all the players with one match ending in a draw, and the other two matches finishing close however winning Semester Two's Junior League were the Capel Kangas 1 team; 14/13.

The two Bunbury teams also meet one another in the final match to determine the 3rd and 4th place position. Again we saw one of the matches finishing in a draw and the other match finishing with a one point difference. Taking out 3rd position were the Bunno Birdies; 9.5/8.5

Unfortunately the DC Lakers were unable to field a team for their match against the Busso Bandits to determine the 5th and 6th place positions however we'd like to give a special thanks to Mitchell, Marshall and Preston and their parents for making the trip up to Collie to play a round against each other. Therefore 5th position went to the Busso Bandits.

9er's Results
Semester Two we decided to change the way in which we awarded the 9er's competition and this semester the results we based on an Order of Merit system therefore if you finished 1st at an event you were awarded 5pts, 2nd you were awarded 3pts, 3rd you were awarded 2pts and for just participating, you were awarded 1pt.

Finishing in 1st place this semester with a total of 21 OOM points over the 6 rounds was Dunsborough Lakes GC member - Jasper Edwards.
Finishing in tied second with 12 OOM points were Bunbury GC members - Riley Burt & Charlotte Brasher.

18's Results
We also changed the way in which we awarded the 18's competition to the Order of Merit system.

⛳ SEMESTER 1, 2019 RESULTS â›³

May, 2019

On Sunday May 5th, Collie Golf Club hosted the final round for the Semester 1 of Junior League, 9er's and 18's competition. We had a great turn out of kids and even managed to get one of the Collie Juniors to join in the fun of the day. A HUGE thanks to William Hammond for helping run the day!!

Junior League Results
In the final's of the JL the Bunno Birdies only required a draw to win the competition however the Capel Kangas proved 'JUST' too good on the day, beating their rivals 14-13 and gaining themselves the Championship!
In the 3rd vs 4th battle, we had the Bunno Boys taking on the DC Lakers. The DC Lakers were unfortunately unable to field a team on the day giving the Bunno Boys the automatic win however the teams still went out and played, with the Bunno Boys taking out the win 11-7.
And in the 5th vs 6th battle we had the Busso Bandits taking on the DBK's with the DBK's getting the win, 14.5 to 12.5

9er's Competition Results
In the 9er's competition, it was anyones game on the last day as we take the best 4 of 6 scores that count towards the total. Another solid performance by young gun Jasper Edwards saw him finish the Semester in 1st place, with a total of 78points.
Finishing in 2nd place was Luke Giovanetti with 60 points and 3rd place went to Phaedy Liddiard with 55 points.

18's Competition Results
In the 18's competition, it was also anyones game on the last day as we take the best 4 of 6 scores that count towards the total. Even through he didn't play the final round, his previous performances were good enough to secure himself the win. Kai Davey took out the Championship position with a total of 146 points!
Coming in a close second with a great final round score of 36 points and loosing by one shot was Mark Holland, with a total score of 145 points. And finishing off in third place, only 3 points back was Luke Finlay with 142 points.

A huge congratulations to all the winners for the events but an even bigger thank-you to all those who participated in Semester 1's competitions! Without the players there wouldn't be a competition! Also a huge thank you to the parents for their constant early Sunday morning adventures all over the South West, the Team Managers for their help and support over the events and lastly to all the host clubs, a huge thank you for giving up your courses to allow us to play!

Semester 2's competition will commence around September, giving parents the chance to sleep in and also with hopes we avoid the wet, cold weather.

⛳ SEMESTER 2, 2018 RESULTS â›³

Oct, 2018

Just like that, we are done and dusted for another Semester for Junior League and 9er's competitions. It came down to the last round to determine the Junior League and 9er's winners, and what a final round it was. With weather not on our side, it was great to see so many keen golfers out there in the wet conditions.

Junior League Results

In the Junior League, the competition leaders played each other in a do or die match between the Bunno Boys and the DC Lakers with the Bunno Boys coming out victorious in a hard fought battle, 19 to 8.

The Bunno Birdies took on the Capel Kangas in a great competition where the Birdies needed a 27 to 0 win to take out second place however it wasn't meant to be, with the girls just getting pipped. They played a great match with the Birdies taking out a 15.5 to 11.5 win over the Kangas.

9er's Competition Results

In the 9er's competition it was a tough battle with it all coming down to the last round to determine the winner. The course proved too difficult for some players but easy for others. BGC Junior Golf competitor Sonny James had a great 19 points to take out the overall 9er's competition, where the best 4 of 6 rounds counted towards the overall total. Sonny finished with a combined total of 63 points. Finishing in a close second spot was Capel Golf Club competitor Mark Holland, with a combined total of 61 points, with a final round score of 20 points. With a disappointing final round due to lack of sleep from Year 12 Exams, BGC Junior Golf competitor Louis Mazza finish in 3rd position.

Thank-you to all the players and parents who took part in the Semester 2, 2018 Junior League and 9er's competitions! Without you all, this event wouldn't happen. A HUGE thank-you to Team Managers, Troy Murphy (Capel), Shani Waugh (Bunbury) and Sue Reynolds (Dunsborough) for fielding a team each week! And last but not least, thank you to all the generous golf course, their staff and members for allowing us access to your facilities over the past Semester! Without your help, it would be impossible to run this competition; Bunbury Golf Club Inc.Capel Golf ClubDunsborough Lakes Golf ClubBusselton Golf ClubThe Par 3 at Old Broadwater Farm, Collie Golf Club & Donnybrook Country Club.

Now time for a bit of a break. We will be back next year, bigger and better!! Details to follow so keep your eyes on the page to help stay up to date! In the meantime, Happy Golfing ðŸ˜ƒ
