OUR STORY
First founded in 2015, Impact South West Junior Golf, was created to provide a clear pathway for junior golfers within the South West Region of WA. Impact was incorporated as a not-for profit organisation in 2015 however due to other commitments, the program was put on hold.
In July 2018, an AGM of the Impact Management Committee was convened and an election of new members and the new structure was formed. Once the Management Committee was elected, there was then a further meeting held to elect an Operations Committee. The Operations Committee are responsible for the running and delivery of the program, and Management Committee tasked with the responsibility of Governance.

In 2015, the South West only had one full time Professional Coach in Shani Waugh. Troy Murphy had only just commenced his role as Head Professional at Capel. Whilst the program was put on hold between 2015 and 2018, the South West gained a further 8 Professional and Trainee’s within the region. During this time, many other areas of the future pathway were also structured.

The South West Junior League was developed in 2017 following a trial of the Golf Australia’s Junior League program. Six of the main clubs of the South West took part in the trial and it has been running since. Since the start of Junior League, all junior programs within the South West have noted a higher retention rate of kids within their programs. We have also included an individual 9 and 18 hole competition in conjunction with this event to give those older, slightly more advanced kids another playing opportunity.

In 2017, the South West joined forces with kids from the Goldfields and Melville Glades to enter teams into the GolfWA Metro Junior Pennants competition. These teams have been running since and in 2019, we entered a Div 2 & 4 boys team, along with a Div 2 girls team which were made up of juniors from the South West (Bunbury, Capel, Busselton & Albany) and Goldfields. The Div 2 boys team in 2019 went undefeated and managed to secure the flag!

Currently we have 7 MyGolf Programs running within the South West at various clubs, with hopes that by the end of 2019, we will have 10 MyGolf Programs. Many of these clubs are starting to create junior competitions and committee’s to help further the development of their juniors.

Junior Golf within the South West is looking very promising and those involved with the Impact program are excited to see further development and improvement within the region. If you or your club are not yet involved with Impact, then please don't hesitate to get in contact with us about your options.
